In the rapidly evolving automotive industry, the need for accurate and efficient Electronic Control Unit (ECU) testing and repair services is paramount. ECU Express Testing and Repair is one of the services that has captured attention for both its offerings and the contentious issues surrounding customer satisfaction. In this blog, we will delve into the 1-star reviews received by ECU Express and discuss the allegations of scams that have surfaced.

Analysis of Customer Reviews

One of the most revealing aspects of ECU Express comes from analyzing customer feedback. A significant portion of reviews reflects dissatisfaction, with many customers highlighting issues such as unclear diagnostics and excessive repair costs. The phrase "1-star reviews" has become synonymous with their service, indicating a pattern that potential customers should consider before engaging with them.

Complaints typically revolve around misleading advertising, where promised quick fixes have led to longer downtimes than expected. This discrepancy has led many customers to classify their experience as fraudulent, thus perpetuating the idea that ECU Express may not uphold the standards they advertise. Such claims warrant significant attention as they not only affect the business's reputation but also the trust of potential customers in similar services.

Scammer..

Scammer... you took my money.. dont use his company. 2nd reply after his response: i dont have any involvement with the companies he mentioned. This is a genuine review about a popular scammer called andrew fisher, he runs ecuexpress, fixmybcm, also ecu testing and repair that is now closed because he was caught scamming. Andrew fisher has many google profiles with addresses he is not linked to. He operates from a storage unit so that he is not caught. he has no electronics knowledge, rather all he does is purchases second hand unit from ebay and send to customer. He stole my money and this is a genuine review. dont use his business. i have reported him to the police, trading standard and action fraud, he also runs a scam psychic business . PLEASE BEWARE AND DONT USE THIS SCAM BUSINESS

don’t even think to use ECU express

Been quoted for a replacement ECU because they do not have a rig for the old one. they gave me a replacement unit, which was second hand, I was never told that to start with, and when fitted back on the car gave me the same old fault, plus about 5 more. when asked for a refund (or at least a partial refund, cause I understand they had to copy and rewrite the data from my ECU) been told that they will not refund, and have been told that they mailed the old ECU to me. also I was asked to pay through a site called Payit, or pay an extra 5% if I want to make the payment by card at their office. Spoke with someone who was very rude and told me there is no way he will refund. Reported the transaction to the bank as scam or fraude, and will notify the financial ombudsman. stay away from this company

Sent back my footwell.module for…

Sent back my footwell.module for Replacement due to a fault. Replacement arrived and had more faults than the original, so sent it back at my own cost of shipping again, had 2nd Replacement and showing the same faults as their first Replacement. My original only had an issue with intermittent hazards, the replacements the lights won't turn off, no indicators, no electric windows. If the original had been cloned and coded properly the original and Replacement would have at least acted the same. Asked for a refund was told no. So I've spent £170 total for absolutely nothing. Complete waste of money and doesn't make sense that the job had been done correctly if replacement modules have more faults than the original. Really disappointed.

Absolute waste of £60

Absolute waste of £60, promised me they could bypass the immobilizer, then said they couldn't but could clone the ECU to a donor which I had to buy then claimed to have tested it but it was just the same when I got it back. So now I have 2 useless ECU plus 2 sets of postage costs.

IGNORE THE INFANTILE REPLY CLAIMING THIS IS A FAKE REVIEW.

AS WE ALL KNOW YOU HAVE TO SEND PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE TRANSACTION TO TRUST PILOT TO PROVE THAT I WAS A CUSTOMER BEFORE THEY AGREE TO POST THE INITIAL REVIEW.

JUST SHOWS WHAT A JOKE THIS COMPANY IS.

Warning Scam company.

My original review is now back online as of 31/09/23
My review still stands even if you keep getting Trustpilot to remove it by shady means.
Trustpilot Yes this review is for Ecuexpress. Only a scam company will try sneaky tricks to get a negitive review removed. I've submitted all the details, invoice and messages to you the first time Andrew Fisher tried removing this review.
As of today 24/08/23 he trying to remove my review again.
Please call me. if you keep records you know from my order number how to contact me.

Original review......
I dont normally submit reviews but need to warn people of this Scam Company called ECU Express/Andrew Fisher.
Not Vat registered and demands payment by bank transfer even though it says visa on the website.
Its not even a business account, its just a normal personal bank account.
Don't be fooled by the 0800 phone number either.
Invoice isn't even worth the paper it's printed on. Didn't even know my name or address when I asked him for the invoice, even though I gave my order number to him and yes i had to keep asking for a invoice. Unprofessional for a company? to ask for details of a costumer your already doing so called work for. Plus customers shouldn't have to chase a company? for a invoice when they are paying money to them. (Unprofessional)
Even the address is fake.
ECU EXPRESS TESTING DEPARTMENT
Units 3-6 Super Stor building
Leek New rd
Stoke
ST6 2AS
(Google map it, its a storage unit company that you can rent mail boxes from)

Work carried out by BLUEHAWK electronics not by the company Andrew Fisher/EcuExpress
Had an issue with my Bmw DDE.
Needed it cloned to a second hand DDE. During the whole process he Wasn't even interested what the problem was, just wanted it sent to him and the money. Well when i was calling for an updates he just kept saying i speak to my tec guy, like it was his employee. Well this scammer
Is just a middle man and sends it to a proper Ecu testing place for work to be done. So just use Bluehawk electronics thats where he sent mine to have the work done. Received the cloned DDE back but it had an issue and when i rang him with the issue he was just rude and like it was an inconvenience for him, said he would pay for return postage but just another lie from this scammer.
Asked me to send it back to
Ecu express
173 Little Hallam Lane
ILKESTON
Derbyshire
DE7 4Aa
This is just the address for Bluehawk electronics.
So I just stopped calling him all together and started speaking to the nice chap at bluehawk.
Issue sorted and now have 2 working Cloned DDE,s.

Don't listen to all the 5 star reviews like me as now I know it's not a proper company.
Please look at other review sites, you we see that trustpoilot is the only one with 5 stars for this company.
All reviews here are submitted by people who have only ever submitted one review and funny it's to this company?.
If its such a great Company as the reviews would have you believe then why is it not Vat registered, can pay only by bank transfer to a personal bank account and not a business account
Proper company's don't work this way.

Don't be fooled like me from the reviews from Trustpilot

THANK YOU BLUEHAWK Electronics for all the great work.

Update - check Companies House and other company checker websites. ECUEXPRESS Ltd is registered in Bristol which is different from the fake address above.
Website address is the correct for this company just nothing else.
100% Scam company and trustpoilot is endosing it.
AVOID.
This scammer will try everything to remove your honest negative review.
All correspondence with you has been sent to trustpilot to verify my review. Order number DS5522

With a free phone number

With a free phone number, website and live chat it all looks very professional but that is where the professionalism ends. I sent my ECU and paid for a cloned ECU. Before I even opened the box I knew something was wrong. Firstly my original ECU was not returned, at no point was l told I wouldn't get it back, next thing was the ECU had no protective packaging so it had bounced off the side of the box in transit resulting in several pieces of the plastic around the pins breaking off and to top it all it didn't even work and was just told " well send it back" no apology or offer to pay for the return postage. I did get my original ECU back but wasted 2 weeks and 2 lots of postage. This review has been verified by Trustpilot so ignore the standard response of "no record of dealing with this customer" on another review site they have only 2 stars.
No refund for postage was ever made and this company did not rectify anything so ignore the owners response. ECU testing in Derbyshire repaired my ECU and returned it within 3 days with a lifetime warranty.

Much like all the other reviews

Much like all the other reviews, don't be fooled by the nice website, the address is a storage facility where the ecu's are collected and are then sent to another address 100 miles away to a guy who attempts to repair ecu's in his home, google the address's and you'll see. Service is pretty shocking. I would advise anyone not to pay via bank transfer, only pay with credit card or papal, everything about this guy is suspicious, you have been warned.

Simply Awful..

What a terrible way to run a business.. the guy is extremely rude and unhelpful on the phone and had me instantly wishing I had went elsewhere! If I treated my customers like that I’d be out of business quickly like this complete charlatan should be.. complete waste of money dealing with them as they took £60 for telling me my module is fine, which is nonsense.. do yourself a favour and look elsewhere, your surely going to get a far better service!!

Sharp Practice!

Had a water damaged Ford focus BCM Which I told this company was the problem. They charged £60 to repeat back it was water damaged & they couldn't repair (gave me the old EPROM is corrupted nonsense). AVOID.Also noticed company owner gave himself a 5 star review on another site. This review is a year old but I still hand on heart swear it is the truth. You can see what they are like by the rude response. Please make your own judgement!

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY Returned the ECU (within 24hrs) as had discovered the problem was something else. Has refused to refund my money despite continuous communication and is now also in possession of the item - theft. No T&Cs which is illegal and clearly doesn't even understand the statutory rights of a customer. AVOID like the plague and just go to one of their competitors.

Utter joke, explained the issue with my ECU they insisted they could fix it, cost me £10 to ship it, then they said they couldn't fix it but told me they could clone it if I bought another so I did and ship them for £10, then they said they couldn't clone it but could check the replacement over for £40. They said it was good but when I got it back it was still not working, A total waste of £60, I would not recommend them.

We sent a ECU to them to be repaired due to water damage. It cost £350 for ait to be fixed. We were told to plug it back in and it would work. It didn't and told them so. He was beyond rude and said he never has any problems with his work. Two garages said the ECU was faulty after he had fixed it. Avoid this company as just interested in getting your money and tough if it doesn't work.

This company overcharged me from the advertised price of £325 and charged me £400. After receiving the ECU back it did not solve my issue it was returned for a second time and still not worked. I was offered a partial refund of £200 from the trader and he is now ignoring all my messages. I have been left with no option but to leave this review and I have also contacted trading standards.

This was 4 years ago but ive just read these now unfortunately. I wish I had read these reviews first. They work out of a Store it all lock up; dodgy in itself. They charge you just to look at the ECU then give it back saying its unfixable. I don't think they even look at them; just an easy £60 for doing nothing. Specialist that did fix my ECU (Audi 3.0 Tdi A5) said they are well known and to give them a wide berth. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE RUDE, UNCOMMUNICATIVE AND BASICALLY A COMPLETE SCAM.

Refitted to van only to be told fault codes still appearing. Text then called #rse express only to be told sent a replacement unit so we didn’t know if the original unit was causing the problem, or was even faulty On their website send for test if no problem found only cost of return post necessary, called and spoke to someone on 07479535866. Was abruptly told must be the ECU, text back can you repair the reply no not that one. No futher forward stay clear of these i@ots.

My best piece of advice: STAY AWAY. There is not one good thing, starting from actual work completed, customer service, or reliability. I rang to enquire and was met with a direct quote saying 'send it, pay for postage, we'll sort it', no interest in the actual issue, and all of it over text, because no one ever picks up the phone. Anyway, they ignored several of my texts/calls when I was trying to get more info on progress and what would happen if the unit didn't work after their 'repair', but got nothing; when it came to payment though, they pestered my mechanic every 20 mins with texts. Anyway, unsurprisingly the issue came back immediately after install of the unit, to which I called, no answer, texted, eventually someone called me and was very rude saying it was my issue, and clearly I had misdiagnosed - I have had three very experienced mechanics tell me the ECU was the issue; when I tried to explain that, the guy just cut me off, said 'get your mechanic to call me'. Apparently they requested the unit to be sent back so they can send another - but I was unhappy with the outcome, because what is the guarantee, especially after dodgy communication and no diagnosis on their behalf? So I asked what the process was for a refund - they refused to call me, started sending rude text messages, basically the worst service I have ever had. All in all, there is no process for complaint, no process for refund, it was not clear anywhere whether or not there was any guarantee the work would be done... And on top of all of that, I had to ask to be sent an invoice, so clearly that is also not usual practice. Avoid at all costs, not worth the hassle.

Fraudulent

Bought a computer box from ecu express for R7000 which wasn't working at all. This guy's can lie, and they will never refund you at all. Run from this company they are very bad with poor service.

Understanding Allegations of Scams

Delving deeper into the allegations of scams associated with ECU Express, the crucial factor lies in transparency. Many detractors argue that the company lacks clarity regarding its pricing structure and repair processes. This has raised red flags for consumers who expect upfront pricing and detailed explanations when opting for such specialized services.

Additionally, reviews frequently mention that once payments are made, the level of customer service diminishes, with difficulties encountered in obtaining follow-up support or clear answers to inquiries. Such experiences contribute to a sense of betrayal and disappointment, leading many to label their experiences as close to being scam-like.

It is vital for those considering ECU Express to approach with caution. Reading through customer reviews, weighing both the positive and negative experiences, can play a crucial role in making an informed decision. Potential customers should also actively seek independent reviews and feedback to paint a more comprehensive picture of the service's reliability.

Conclusion: Making Informed Decisions

In conclusion, while ECU Express Testing and Repair offers services that appeal to those needing immediate automotive solutions, the cloud of 1-star reviews and allegations of scams should not be overlooked. Engaging in thorough research prior to utilizing their services is imperative for potential customers. Understanding the experiences of others could not only save time and money but also prevent the distress associated with unforeseen complications or financial loss. Ultimately, the key lies in making informed decisions rooted in transparency, integrity, and trust.
